BuddyPress 1.6.4 Released
-
Just tagged 1.6.4, which includes some security hardening around the default theme’s AJAX functionality.
With that out of the way, we’re still full steam ahead with 1.7!
-
do you ever sleep?
thanks for all the hard work!
Glad to hear! I’m looking forward to full bbpress 2 with the group functions
Thanks for all the hard work (2)
W a i t i n g for the bp 1.7 <3
How can we get global fixed topics for all groups like this one? I’ve been looking all over for this..
Btw, looking forward to 1.7! Been experimenting a lot with buddypress lately, what a great platform! Thank you.
Keep up the great work @johnjamesjacoby
Love your work !
@johnjamesjacoby or anyone else that would know,
I own a vbulletin board going through the process of changing over to buddypress and am awaiting for better group support.
Will I be able to easily transfer over topics from the forum over to a group and vice versa?
Will the previous groups automatically be updated so that the current content remains and can be transferred back and forth?
Let me know if this is the wrong place to ask and where the right place is please!
@johnjamesjacoby
Wow that’s great John but I still haven’t gotten any of my issues resolved with 1.6.3.
No thanks to the moderators.
I’m really frustrated and I’ve been patient for almost a month now.…as well as a few other posts directed at certain moderators.
Guys I understand that I’m an end-user with little knowledge but I’m not stupid. Some sort of direction would be appreciated but I can’t even get that. What the little guys gets no respect here.
Thx… Frustrated Factorian
@factorian everyone here is volunteering their time and doing their best. Everyone who is on this site is in almost the exact situation as yourself (i’d imagine) we are all busy people with lots of responsibilities and obligations to paying clients and/or employers. The simple fact is that not all problems have a simple solution and you cannot expect anyone to take on your work as their own.
My friend I understand and respect that but for a month? Really?
In addition to that, the fact that I see the same moderators I have reached out to that have replied to others that just recently posted an issues but have yet to even reach out and at least tell me..”hey, been kinda busy, working on it, i’ll get back to you”. That’s just simple common courtesy. It doesn’t take much.You can import vbulletin into bbPress but not BuddyPress group forums. http://codex.bbpress.org/import-forums/vbulletin/
I have already converted. I’m wondering we’ll be able to move group topics into standalone forums and back and forth. Will the current forum posts inside groups be retained?
If I understand this correctly, isn’t group integration with bbpress 2 coming in 1.7?
No matter what role i give to someone who registers ADD MEDIA is missing from posts
@pjfbncil please don’t double-post. answered you at http://buddypress.org/support/topic/missing-add-media/#post-151952
Hi John
Im looking for a feature list for BuddyPress so we can create copy for users that are not technical and dont know how the features work.
i.e. activity feed etc
feature = short description.
It will save us having to reinvent the wheel.
Could you please point me in the right direction, I have already checked the documentation section from what i can see it go’s into the technical aspect of the feature not a simple breakdown of what it does and not all user features seem to be listed.
Please let me know if im looking in the wrong place or have my wires crossed.
P.S.
Great work on BuddyPress really like the application.
Gerardo.
Hi John, thanks for the update.
I’m starting a new project. You are probably sick of being asked about when 1.7 is due, but is there a rundown somewhere of what significant changes it will bring.
In particular, “works with any theme” rather than requiring bp template pack to be used presumably will involve some fairly major changes. Can you explain what it will mean in practice, and give a heads up to anything else important?
Thanks — and don’t let me interrupt your coding.
not trying to speak for john or anyone else but perhaps i’m not going out too far on a limb by trying to answer your question.
i believe you will have the legacy option of using the template pack if you choose but if your theme does not utilize this method then the default behavior of buddypress will be to use the standard post area to fill in its content.
You can always download the current SVN if you want to see how it works now i also understand that the first beta is imminent, only one or two trac tickets holding it back at this point.
1.7 beta will happen very soon. I would get the trunk and start working with 1.7
Sorry, dumb question, but what’s the quickest way to download the 1.7 trunk. If I go to the link in a browser and have to drill down through every directory and manually download every file one by one it will take forever. There is no doubt a way to suck it down in one go, but I don’t know it…
Thanks
probably an svn client i think you can also use a terminal connection but i wouldn’t call that easy myself.
@terraling @ubernaut if you’re not into svn yet, click on the gray “Zip Archive” link under Download in other formats: near the bottom of the page of https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk
@mercime — great, thanks for that. I was looking at a different page and didn’t see such a link, but I have it now.
