BuddyPress.org

Hey guys, I am working on a beta site as a possible full site redesign.
I am running wordpress 3.4.1 and buddypress 1.6 these are both brand new installs. I also have a plugin called darkonyx (it’s in the wordpress plugin directory) which is a video database plugin. The database itself is in a different subdirectory.

When I have just that plugin active it works fine. However when I activate buddypress the videos that are supposed to display no longer work. The short code is not present and I just have a blank area. Any ideas on what could be causing this? It works perfectly otherwise. I thought it may have something to do with the theme, but even if I change the theme back to a default wp theme with or without buddypress optimization it will not display the video.
