Buddypress Blog Followers

    I wasn’t able to figure out exactly what the appeal of using follower/following is as-is but i got to thinking i’ve always wanted a way to follow network blogs and their posts. how could this plugin be applied to network sites where instead of the member having followers, the member’s Blog has followers and by following a blog you can get a activity stream of only posts and comments for the blogs you follow.

    anyone want to come up with a way to do this? bp followers-too / the plugin sequel perhaps

    just thinking out loud but you think that this plugin might work just by having the Follow button only appear on your profile if you own a blog, change the wording to Follow my Blog and Blog Followers, and filter only blog comments/posts. the only thing is what if there are multiblogs for 1 person, not that that would matter to me i only ever allow 1 blog per.

    some features could be:
    sitewide follow button that can be placed in the blog.
    site wide follower avatar widgets that can be put in the blogs.

    I’m now seeing the appeal!

    has anyone attempted to do this? what would we be looking for to only show the follow button for members with blogs, and filter the display of the activity to only show blog posts from the members you follow.

    In the meantime, it’s easy to get members to subscribe to blog http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe2/ so perhaps that could be integrated to the Blogs list directory page

    @mercime, thanks that’s something to look into. I’ve been looking at it today with my novice abilities…and I think you can add a new function to at least only filter back blog posts for the members you follow from the activity page and the activity profile following, that puts me a little closer. then the next would be to only show the follow button if the member has a blog. beyond that…it looks like the language can be rearranged pretty easily to say Follow My Blog, same goes for the notification wording. so maybe one of the ninjas can shed some light.
