BuddyPress & Permalink Issues…

  • Hello all,

I’m having problems trying to get the buddypress to work properly on my “Less Is Less 1.4 by Miguel Santirso” theme. Whenever I click on the menu it brings me to a blank error page. (Menu as in the buddypress buttons.)

I’ve installed the buddypress plug-in along with the buddypress template pack to correct the maligning that occurs.

It then prompts me to: “You should update your .htaccess now.” along with, “By default WordPress uses web URLs which have question marks and lots of numbers in them, however WordPress offers you the ability to create a custom URL structure for your permalinks and archives. This can improve the aesthetics, usability, and forward-compatibility of your links. A number of tags are available, and here are some examples to get you started.”

At the bottom it also states: “If your .htaccess file were writable, we could do this automatically, but it isn’t so these are the mod_rewrite rules you should have in your .htaccess file. Click in the field and press CTRL + a to select all.”

    Then I’m suppose to paste:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /organic/
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /organic/index.php [L]

So I created the .htaccess file, pasted the script above in there and uploaded it to my sever.

Once uploaded, my entire site doesn’t work and goes to a white error page.

My question is, what exactly is it that I change in the permalink settings when it asks me to do so?

    Thanks in advance.
