Hello all, just making a topic cue for questions and comments you have about the BuddyStream Plugin and imminent Beta release. Peter and I have worked very hard to make the Beta launch as smooth as possible, but realize that there will be questions and comments. You can expect a “maintenance” release in the coming weeks. Major enhancements and future suggestions for the plugin will be gathered and decided upon in a “rolling” process…If you definitely “must have” a feature or Social Network included in this plugin, please contact us directly and we can talk about minimal development pricing and timelines…

The plugin will remain as open-source GPL, but we encourage you to donate to the upkeep and future development of the plugin (and possible spin-offs). i’ve got my party hat and kazoo but I guess I’m a little early. Will the beta have a consolidated settings bar, listing each service in the subnav of the settings fills up and imagine as you add more services what will happen.

@nahummadrid – the party started early here too

@Pisanojm – for those of us with TweetStream and FaceStream installed – will this be an upgrade? Can we import from these two products? Or is it best to “just start fresh” by removing the two earlier products and install BuddyStream?

This will NOT be an upgrade… you will need to disable both Tweetstream and FaceStream. Any of your tweets/updated into activity stream will reamin… I found however that I had to leave a couple of the images from both (facebook/twitter pngs) in their original directors so as not to have a “broken image” appear in the older streams. You will not need to import… nothing is lost as far as what was already saved to the database prior.

The users will have to reset their integrations to work with each SN they would like to allow access. Other than that it works pretty seamless.

@pisanojm – thank you. I’m uploading right now. TweetStream and FaceStream were deactivated but not deleted.

Update: B-E-A- utiful. Works like a charm on Penguin Flight Log. Easy installation and setup.

Thanks, I’m hoping that others will experience the same thing… Peter and I have exchanged countless e-mails discussing Q and A issues over the last two months. AND… it’s only going to get better!!!

Hey all,

Looks like the BuddyStream site is/was getting hammered with traffic and is currently experiencing some issues… We are working to correct this…. Sorry!

But I see that sometimes the username does not appear on each activity on the activity stream, just an empty white square instead of the name.
Is this theme related or a Buddystream flaw ?

That issue has been fixed and was an issue with Tweetstream… The name missing items are imported from the old Tweetstream integration the new BuddyStream integration has fixed this issue…

Haha, what a traffic spike! Luckily just got in there first. I was getting this error with twitter: Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_convert_encoding() in /home/collabbo/science3point0.com/wp-content/plugins/buddystream/classes/twitter/BuddystreamTwitter.php on line 115

I googled the error code and I’m being told your PHP installation does not provide support for MBString: This is something the admin of the server has to do. Tell him to upgrade PHP with some more modules, and at least MBString support.

I’ve just upgraded to dedicated servers so Im hoping my hosts will help me fix it. If not I’ll let you know. Congratulations guys. really amazing.

@el_terko- yep – those missing images are from TweetStream – while the first 8 or so are BuddyStream

@pisanojm – noticed that settings for Facebook or Flickr are not in the profile. They are enabled in the /wp-admin.

@LPH2005 Did you entered the api keys? When those are not set in the admin pages the settings are not shown.

I try to click ” Click here to start authorization ” in twitter tab.
Then, I click ” Allow ” in twitter.
But, White screen showed. I could not complete.

I can’t seem to get anything but youtube settings to show up in a user profile – facebook and twitter options don’t appear, even though they are activated in the plugin settings. Can someone point me in the right direction?
