Hello all, just making a topic cue for questions and comments you have about the BuddyStream Plugin and imminent Beta release. Peter and I have worked very hard to make the Beta launch as smooth as possible, but realize that there will be questions and comments. You can expect a “maintenance” release in the coming weeks. Major enhancements and future suggestions for the plugin will be gathered and decided upon in a “rolling” process…If you definitely “must have” a feature or Social Network included in this plugin, please contact us directly and we can talk about minimal development pricing and timelines…

The plugin will remain as open-source GPL, but we encourage you to donate to the upkeep and future development of the plugin (and possible spin-offs). If you find BuddyStream a “big part” of your BuddyPress users’ experience, please consider giving back: http://buddystream.net/funding/ -even SMALL amounts are appreciated and go a long way to adding up!

Please post your questions, comments, below with regard to the BuddyStream Beta:

    @blackphantom awesome plugin!

One problem. I can’t get it to sync from FB to my site. Only from my site to FB. Twitter works!

Having the same issue with FB. Any reported plugin conflicts?

    Aside from that, super job!

About the FB problems, are the settings for the users shown? (member side)
If so try to reset the user you are using.
@stevnjones, ligar is wright you have to setup the keys before the settings are shown.

Ok… here are a couple of things to check with regard to the plugin functioning properly:

    1. Are you using the latest version of WordPress?

    2. Are you using the latest version of BuddyPress?

    3. Are you using PHP 5?

    4. Do you have JSON installed?

    5. Do you have CURL installed?

    6. Have you correctly entered the API Keys for Twitter and Facebook?
If you have, you should easily be able to post to Twitter and Facebook.

    7. If you can post to Twitter and Facebook, but items are not being imported, it’s possible your cron job is not being triggered. If you can output to Twitter and Facebook your API is setup correctly.

    8. If you have a private site, you will have to find a way through your redirect “firewall” to allow the cron job to be triggered. Do NOT USE background importing, if you have a “private” site… use the cron job and make sure the path to the “?buddystreamcron=run” is an exception in your URL allowed list somewhere.

    9. THE APIs have to be entered BEFORE you will see some of the options appear for Twitter and for Facebook on User’s Side (even if you have “turned on” the Social Network).

    10. Twitter has been having issues for months… if Twitter is not working properly for you and was at some point… check http://status.twitter.com and see if Twitter has turned something off temporarily….

    11. Remember if you have enabled “good filters” or “bad filters” you HAVE to make sure that you follow your own rules… don’t enable any filters until you know you can import and export successfully…

    12. If you have enabled a limit updates/per user function… you just may have exceeded the limit while you were testing… don’t limit anything until you are sure that it works…

    13. Testing this (ANY) plugin rule of thumb… before you report anything make sure you have met the minimum plugin requirements… if you experience difficulties… it may very likely be because you have a conflicting PLUGIN or THEME… try the plugin without any PLUGINS enabled except BuddyPress and Buddy Stream (Clear all caches before you test again). try the PLUGIN in the BuddyPress Default THEME… then if it works, try to determine what plugin/theme is causing the issue and report back… if it doesn’t work write as much detail as possible (including information from your error_logs) and INCLUDE what VERSIONS of BuddPress, WordPress, PHP, etc. you are using to help us with the detail….

Ok… that’s it for now! I hope you are all having a great experience with BuddyStream!

On the users settings “Note: Each site also has a “Global” list of filters and its settings will override these settings. “

Where can you set these globally?

When I set “Background Importing” it imports. Seems as though the cron isn’t working

    Edit * Fixed it.

Is it possible to limit the amount of text imported from Facebook to your network? I’m running a micro blogging site and I only allow 200 characters to be posted on the site. Could it be setup so that only 200 characters of FB status updates be imported?

@atonrsa I thought we fixed the issue with the RSS as this was an issue with both TweetStream and FaceSTream, but we thought we fixed it in BuddyStream… this issue was an illegal character in the feed… Would you mind running your feed though this and “pasting the error” here?

    http://validator.w3.org/feed/

I am not getting any issues with any of the feeds on my site…

@ligar would you mind trying that in different browswers? Also, do you experience the same posting/redirect issue when ONLY BuddyPress AND BuddyStream are enabled?

Facebook to BuddyStream Issues… Are others experiencing not being able to post from FaceBOOK to BuddyStream? Have you all verified your API? Have you tried this making sure that NO filters are enabled…

It is possible that PHP 5.2 or better will have to be used with this plugin because of the Zend framework, but I am not completely sure of this and will let Peter speak to this. If you have the ability to easily upgrade to PHP 5.3+ and are experiencing issues with the plugin, you may want to try that.

( It is shown in topic. )

Problem is redirect issue & activity stream issue.

Yes, This issue is when ONLY BuddyPress AND BuddyStream are enabled.
When I deactive BuddyStream, This issue is not happen.

    My PHP is 5.1.3.
