Same problem as everyone here too, CAN’T import from Facebook to BuddyStream but CAN post from BuddyStream to Facebook. Twitter DOES import.
Running
PHP Version 5.2.12
WordPress 3.0.1.
JSON is enabled
cURL support enabled
Buddy Press Version 1.2.5.2
Having some success with twitter, running at 4 hours behind though? Any ideas?
Twitter works for my users, not for me? Something to do with it being my app?
After browsing some of the links posted here, something I’ve noticed on several of the sites using buddystream as well as the buddystream.net site – the first set of filtering is broken on the main activity page and each member’s page: Personal, Friends, Groups, Favorites, etc.
@pisanojm, @blackphantom
When I post a tweet to Twitter and Facebook, The Twitter and Facebook update gets imported back to the network so there is 3 of the same updates.
Right… that is actually what it is supposed to do… IE you posted to facebook and twitter and you have both facebook and twitter set to pull back in to your buddypress site… it did.
In order to restrict this from posting back to your site you will need to include a “bad filter” and/or a “good filter” either on your global filters or your user filters.
For instance on my site… Nothing is imported to the BuddyPress site unless it has a particular hashtag from Twitter or Facbook let’s say: #import
If BuddyPress sees this hashtag then it is allowed into the stream… else all other noise is ignored.
If I post from BuddyPress to Twitter AND Facebook without the ALLOWED hashtag (or word) it will NOT be imported back.
There are many scenarios that you can use to make this work and not double/triple post using the global allow and deny filters.
The good news is that you are successfully importing both Twitter and Facebook.
THanks @pisanojm for the clarification
Another problem. Since I’ve updated to the latest BP version this morning, all the updates sent to Twitter and Facebook that includes a ‘ are escaped with but it displays correctly on My Site. So can’t becomes can’t on Twitter and Facebook
@atonrsa can you please post exactly what you are experiencing… I recently updated 1.2.6 and am not experiencing escaped characters when I post to Twitter…. Anyone else getting this and can post detail/screenshots? TY
