Buddystream doesn’t import from Facebook
The same problem here. I use “background” importing. I post what’s on my mind in facebook, but nothing shows up in buddystream. Is there someone who has this working?
i don’t think this has worked for anyone. developer told me week and a half ago they’re fixing it by last week, but haven’t seen an update. i guess it’s harder than he thought. must be having problems… wish there’d be a fix soon!
couldn’t you please share some info re upcoming update. I’ve seen same info/plans as roberte, but can not find any further discussions.
thanks a lot,
very important plugin!!
Yes, we are still working on a BugFix… please follow @blackphantom as well to make sure you get the latest news about this plugin. The release was pushed back another week… I am looking over a number of updates/fixes currently… my estimate is a release will be out in the next 2-3 days!
Hey, new updates here, but still no import from facebook… or is this Problem fixed?
Wel we released a new version where the import is fixed, it also can be the users privacy settings on facebook.
What do the privacy settings need to be set as in order to import status updates/picture posts/etc then?
The import of facebook updates is still not working for me, even though my cron is working fine to import twitter posts, and the facebook account is connected fine because outgoing posts from BP to facebook work fine. I have made public updates on facebook to be sure that is not the problem. Are there still bugs here?
Additionally… why the require to have facebook posts set to public? Isn’t tthat the whole point of connecting the user through the Facebook API and granting priveleges?
Because the user can have the control on Facebook which post are readable for everyone and which one not (so only for friends) we only import those who are public. Can you post a url or send me a test account so i can check it out and maybe can find out what is going wrong. How more test account of everyone how better i can trace the problem.
My public FB updates aren’t importing either. The cron job is running just fine. BuddyStream is recording the time when it runs and reporting it, but no imports, no even on public updates.
I understand the logic behind only importing public updates, but I don’t know anyone who has a totally public FB profile. No one is going to manually set select updates to public just so they flow into BuddyStream. I’d rather you important public OR friends only because the assumption is, if you opt to connect your FB account to a BP site, you’re basically saying it’s okay right then and there.
Suzanne, you are right on that one we are looking how the privacy settings on facebook works so we can see how we can import the best way without making the users angry
@blackphantom Hi, my public Facebook updates won’t import either (by default, my updates are only sent to my friends, but when I posted my test updates I used the lock icon under the status box to switch to “everyone” – assuming that should make them public?). I’m able to post to Facebook and Twitter from BuddyPress. My Twitter account imports OK into BuddyPress, so it seems like the cronjob is at least partly working? However, the Buddystream admin panel doesn’t list the last time that the cronjob ran, and I’ve never seen any confirmation like “imported from Twitter/FB in X seconds” anywhere (would that come through the emails generated by the cronjob? I’m very new to all of this).
I’m happy to wait for the next update to see if that helps me, but I was wondering if there’s anything I did wrong in the meantime. I’m using Bluehost and used the cPanel to configure the cronjob. Does Bluehost do curl and json, though? Could that be the problem? Happy to give you any info you might need to help me out. Thanks!
