Can buddypress run as part of a regular wordpress blog?

I have a pretty popular, standard, blog at http://www.allaboutaddiction.com

I’d love to incorporate a social-networking aspect to the site, but also want to continue working with content the way I have been. Does this sound like something that I should install buddypress on my site for or should I direct users from my site to an alternate “buddypress only” version of my site?

BuddyPress isn’t all-or-nothing; it’s built to let people integrate it into existing themes and websites. I’d set up a test copy of your blog somewhere (or on your local PC) so you can install BuddyPress and give it a test to see how it fits in with your existing content/theme.

BuddyPress works with standard WP, so yes you can use it with your site!

You’ll probably need to use the BuddyPress Template pack plugin if you want to use your existing theme with it.

Like DJPaul said, you should test BP locally to see if it fits your site’s needs.

There’s also another option for social networking on WP called Mingle. Some consider it easier to setup with an existing WP theme.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks guys, definite help. I’m going to test it somewhere else as you’d mentioned.
