Sure can. Two ways. Functions.php or a plugin

Thanks for the plugin, but it only sees the login form, and I want to be able to choose what to see, to be able to publish something as a description of the site, like Facebook.
Can you help with another plugin or another way?

with the plugin BuddyPress Private Community you can choose what will be private and what will be public:
