Cannot upload an avatar for a group

I got this message when trying to upload an avatar to a newly created group:

`Upload Failed! Error was: Unable to create directory /home/buddypress/public_html/wpmu/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/group-avatars/838. Is its parent directory writable by the server?`

What am I doing wrongly? Thanks!

  • on your server you must make those directory’s wtitable by clicking somewhere in your controlpanel on permissions or something like that

Oh, I’m sorry, I should have clarified: this happened on buddypress.org when trying to upload an avatar. So I don’t have access to the server. I imagine something is wrong on this server, assuming that I should be able to upload a group avatar…

It’s a known issue being dealt with.

Awesome. Any estimate to a fix?

This is unfortunately still broken and I imagine is due to a single directory having the wrong permissions (although perhaps it needs to be changed for every groups’ directories). I really hope a fix is coming soon.

The relevant people are aware and, in this case, the solution isn’t as simple as changing the directory permissions.

    Thanks for the update, Paul!
