Can’t install on Windows?

I see in the docs that BP can’t be run on windows. I’m aware of some limitations with WPMU on a windows desktop. (probs with subdomains.. gotta hard code ‘em) Is this the reason? I’m not trying to run a production version of BP on windows, just dev.
WPMU and bbPress integrated, run fine for me as a dev site on windows.
