    @r-a-y

    Are you using a custom theme?

    I do not experience this issue with the default BP theme.

    I’m using the buddy press 3 column theme.

    i too have this problem, and it happens in both my custom theme and the bp-default 1.2.6

    when i type “before http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COcl6ax38IY after” on a single line, “before” is removed, the video is embedded and the “after” text is placed after the embedded video.

    (i also tested flickr, and got the same result)

    has anyone else experienced this, or, even better, solved it?

    if all on same line then text preceding the link is stripped, text directly following the link is preserved.

    Write line of text hit enter for line break add link add another carriage return add further line of text and all text is preserved .

    This isn’t necessarily a oEmbed issue oEmbed simply makes use of the existing functionality built into WP.

    Try adding your link to a basic WP post try all on one line, link and text you’ll find that the link isn’t converted; now try again but this time add a return before you add the link just the same as you would if starting a new paragraph, the link is converted and all text preserved as you would expect.

    Personally I find it an instinctive thing to add line breaks so not entirely sure there is anything to solve as such, true there appears a minor discrepancy between post handling and bp update handling in as much as one simply refuses to convert link and the other will but at a cost of the text.

    i replaced line 38 in bp-oembed.php with

    preg_match_all(‘#(?:(?:http?|https?)://[^.s]+.[^s]+|(?:[^.s/]+.)+(?:[a-z]{2,4})(?:[:/][^s]*)?)#i’, $content, $matches);

    and that took care of my issue, if someone who knows regex better than I agrees with this, then it would be nice to have that as an option in the config file

    I’ve got a better regex working on my test build that I haven’t updated in a while.

    Good idea to filter the regex, will add this in the next test build.

    I put in the code, because I have this problem also.

    I put it in and got a: parse error: unexpected T_IF

    hey @r-a-y, yes, this is indeed a flaw, I have this issue also.

    The potential fix listed above only works for status updates, but when users post comments with youtube video links, the content above the video player is not there.

    Thanks!

    @r-a-y, I am debating on keeping this plugin because of the no content with media. the Fix listed above only fixes it in some cases, but most of the time, for example, when a user leaves a comment, the video covers up everything on the AS.

    @gunju2221 – Try the old beta and tell me if that fixes things:
    http://buddypress.org/community/groups/oembed-for-buddypress/forum/topic/oembed-for-bp-0-6-beta-available/

    I’m currently rewriting the plugin to coincide with the upcoming release of BP 1.3. The next release will be when BP 1.3 drops; BP 1.2 compatibility will be included.

    Hi, this plugin is great, is excellent!
    as I can resize the video??
    thanks

    @ fangio1 how did you manage to resize the video? have tried but with no luck

    regards
