    Hi

    Here is my implementation of Buddypress and WordPress. Chwisgi.com is a site where people can read, review and discuss whisky. Would love to hear your feedback!

    The site depends on a few great WP plugins

    * My favorite posts

    * Magic Fields

    * BuddyPress (of course :)

    * FeedWordpress

    * flickrRSS

    * GD Star Rating

    * Search everyting

    * WP-FB-AutoConnect

    * wp-Typography

    * WPtouch iPhone Theme

    http://chwisgi.com

    Cheers,

    Jens

    Nice work Jens. One small annoyance I noticed was the links in the middle at the bottom all start with “Latest” Hard to read through a list like that. Would be better to do “Find the Latest…” and then the list. Makes it easier for the user.

    Also, I like your customized “register” page. I’d love to hear your method for customizing it.

    @ibrooklynite Thanks for the kind words. Hope it goes well with your setup!

    @crashutah: Thanks for the feedback. You are so true, made the changes right away > http://chwisgi.com/#footer

    The register page is a normal register page with some css changes and adding the a hook to the WP-FB-AutoConnect plugin. That’s it.

    I see. Forgot they had a page where you could change the profile fields. Saw it a while ago, but just now getting back into BP. Nice work.

    Jens,

    Actually on second thought, which hook did you use to add the WP-FB-Auto Connect plugin to the top of the registration page?

    I assume you added the following code to that hook:

    //Show a “Login with Facebook” button

    jfb_output_facebook_btn();

    //Initialize the Facebook API (and any login buttons on the page)

    jfb_output_facebook_init();

    //Output the JS callback that redirects us to process_login.php

    jfb_output_facebook_callback();

    @crashutah: Yes, that’s it. The problem I note is when someone register the button is still there after they register, this doesn’t look to good so if need some kind of “if” code…

    Good point about the need for an if statement. Simple enough.

    I assume you just modified the register.php as a child template when you added that code?

    I’m not sure if it’s called ‘child template’. I first hade WP and then installed BP as a plugin. I then ran the install BP into current theme wizard. Is that what you call a ‘child template’?

    Not sure how the conversion from WP to BP does it. Although, I tried the ‘child template’ method and it works. The conversion tool might do the same or not. I’d have to look at the code. I imagine there’s also a hook that would work too. I’m thinking that something like this hook would have the same effect as a child template more or less:

    $add_facebook_login = ‘//Show a “Login with Facebook” button

    jfb_output_facebook_btn();

    //Initialize the Facebook API (and any login buttons on the page)

    jfb_output_facebook_init();

    //Output the JS callback that redirects us to process_login.php

    jfb_output_facebook_callback();’

    add_action( ‘bp_before_register_page’, $add_facebook_login );

    You might not be able to do it as a variable like that. You might have to create a function. I guess I should suggest it to the developer of the plugin since that’s where this would probably best be integrated. Sorry to take over the thread for your new site;-)
