Comments in Custom Component

How can I add comments to a custom component item. Im not sure if Im looking for comments in this instance or just using a custom activity type and calling it a comment. Any suggestions?

I believe it’s accomplish by https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-components-and-features/activity-streams/ Activity streams unless you are are wanting to add the bbpress forums.

I dont think I shared enough info in my original post Im working with a custom component which uses a custom post type.

Ive now got this working. The custom loop to I was using display posts within the pages of my component had some issues.
