Default set of achievements?

Is there a way to have a default set of achievements; or does everything have to be done by hand?

i think the developer is going to include that in a future version. i think as an expansion pack or add-on feature or plugin. I can see how that could be helpful for alot of ppl as it is quite a cumbersome process to not only add them but also coming up with them, tack on multisite, ooofff! It would be cool to see designers/ release custom sets of achievements for easy import, imagine there being a group achievements set, forums set, community set, social network set etc. complete with predesigned artwork for the “badges” that would be good to see as a piggy back subgenre to this plugin.

not that it’s 100% legal to snatch those but it’s a good inspiration start.
As a separate plugin this would make sense. I know I’ve been going through my list and the hardest part has been designing which ones I wanted to do, what to name them and now I’m on to find art work for them. Definitely requires some thought and creativity.
erm we do need to leave something for people to have to do
Pauls done the hard work, users will have to spend a fraction of the time setting up, configuring etc, Not everything can always work out of the box with no user participation. That said I can see the benefit of some sort of expansion pack approach which can then be added to by third parties
this site (http://icons.mysitemyway.com/) is also a good start. when i first started using achievements and I thought I could do all the badges myself I started out by using these.
But later I ended up just coming up with the names and descriptions and had a graphic designer make the badges which was 100x easier than trying to do it myself. hehe.
Yeah, feedback I’ve had from a few people is: hire a designer to make the badges for you. It might cost money up front, but saves you a lot of time and effort.
At some point next year, I do want to add a set of “default Achievements” so people can use them to get started. They’ll likely be a separate (free) download — I imagine when I switch to using Custom Post Types, I can use WordPress’ “Import” in the admin to get them loaded very easily.
What’s this? Custom post types!
Indeed!
@djpaul not to overtake this topic but does that mean activity items and forum topics will be a post type? I’m thinking taxonomy would allow creating crazy loops.
Core devs haven’t planned what, how, when or where we are going to introduce custom post types into BuddyPress — in any great detail — yet. You’re best to keep an eye on the dev chats next year.
The forum ‘Achievements’ is closed to new topics and replies.
