do not have associated WordPress Pages

I am muddling my way through quite UNsuccessfully. I activated BuddyPress in Salutation BuddyPress ready template. (I also wrote to them first.) I get this message …”The following active BuddyPress Components do not have associated WordPress Pages: Activity Streams, Discussion Forums, User Groups, Members, Activate, Register.”

Clicking on “Repair” following that message, does not work. Going to “Pages” under “BuddyPress” and assigning the pages from the pull down menus does not work, because these pages don’t exist! I’ve tried removing and reinstalling a couple of times. What do I do now?

go to your /wp-admin -> plugins -> add new.
    search Buddypress Template Pack.
    Install it, and run it.
    Follow the simple steps…
    All should work well.

Actually, I already had BuddyPress Template pack installed. I just activated it again, and tired again. I clicked repair on that message, and still, there are no pages by those names in teh pull down menus.

@starprintbrokers Salutation is supposed to be a BuddyPress-ready theme, therefore you do not need to install and activate the BP Template Pack plugin nor go through Appearance > BP Compatibility process. If you did, deactivate Salutation and delete the theme, then re-upload a clean copy of the Salutation theme but do not activate it yet.

Change to bp-default theme, then go to BuddyPress > Pages. For each component that does not have a Page yet, e.g. Activity Streams does not have “Activity” page across, click on “New Page” button and the Page will be created. Do the same for the remaining components in the section. You associate each page to each component and click “Save All” button at the bottom of the section.

Check that each BP component page is working. Then and only then do you change to Salutation theme. Btw, do confirm with theme author if Salutation has been upgraded to work with current BuddyPress version.

Thank you. I am checking with the Salutation author and then I will follow your instructions.

Just for clarity- you do know understand that in the event that bp hasn’t created pages or you get that message that associations are broken it’s a manual process to create those pages before navigating back to BP pages to now find them available in the selection dropdown.

With Saluation – if memory serves – you may need to go into each of those pages created for BP use and ensure that you have selected ‘buddypress’ in the layout options sidebar custom field.

Just gettng back to this project.

@mercime, I did confirm that Salutaion will work with the current BuddyPress theme.

Hugo, if this doesn’t work, then I will ask my host provider to wipe out the entire site and I’ll start over. It’s not such a loss, as I am still building the site. I can easily create those missing pages with those names, but would imagine there is code and are layouts that I cannot replicate. I would say my skill level is probably just short of intermediate, so I would rather play it safe than build any more content. I’ve save what I built in Word docs anyway!

@starprintbrokers before deleting everything. Follow my instructions in my post above to change to bp-default theme etc.

Yes as mercime says don’t delete anything just yet, deleting and re-installing is seldom really required.

With the Salutation theme you have chosen quite a tricky framework to get ones head around, at best it’s confusing until you have spent a bit of time with it, but results do look quite nice and it appears to integrate well with BP, one thing to bear in mind with the theme is that it does allow you to export all the configured layouts and template includes so if you have started building, configuring layouts then check where the various export options are and save them then if necessary you can re-import them to re-create your custom changes.

I am stuck again. I worked with my host and had the entire site removed. I removed themes, WordPress, everything to start with a fresh install. I installed WordPress, then BuddyPress and them Salutaion. To my relief, all the pages showed up. I tested it by going going to the template’s “Register” and “Sign in buttons on the first page. They worked fine. In Register on that front pagepull down menu, I clicked the “Sign up instantly!” button. It took me right to the Registration page, just as it should. I starting add in photos, and content to the Why MeggieBooks and the Get in Touch pages. I’ve been careful not to change many settings unless so I would not run into trouble. I have not added any plugins. So I was just showing it off, and pressed the “Sign up Instantly!” button and it now takes me to the front page, or maybe doesn’t take me anywhere. I see that all the content is now gone on the Registration page.

@starprintbrokers Go to BuddyPress > Pages and check if Registration is still associated with a Page. If it is,resave page. Don’t know why that’s acting up with Salutation theme. If you change to bp-default theme, does the register issue also happen there or is it resolved?

Registration is still associated with the Register page. I switched to a BP theme and it is no different. When I went to Pages>Register, I find that ll of the html code is stripped out. The pages are there. but no code. It’s pretty much useless to me.

The WP ‘Pages’ used to create the page views are just there to create the url path if you view one it’s intentionally empty – or am I missing the point of what you’re saying?
