Edit Google's description of my site

Hi all,

Can anyone give me some guidance on how I can change the description of my site when it shows up on Google searches.

Currently, it says “under construction” because that was my post on my homepage. I have taken that post down now and have everything running. My homepage is a static page featuring an image, no text.

And though I don’t have much coding experiences, I would prefer to do it without a plugin if possible.

Any help much appreciated.

You can use the meta tag to do that. It goes inside your document’s <head></head> tags. So:

<meta name="description" content="My description">

Note, Google doesn’t always use this. They actually use a number of different sources. Read this for more info:
