ETA Estimate?
-
Just curious, when do you think it will finally be available for a live site use? I know you guys are busy and appreciate all your hard work, just can wait
Thanks, rg.

We’re just finishing up the embedded media integration. After that we have to give the data model a final look over, then it should be ready for testing on live sites. I would estimate about 10 more days.
Thanks!

can’t wait!

good to hear, gl
My bp album is not working since I changed URLs, how do I delete the original completely from the database so I can reinstall. Im guessing you will be using the same database when media comes out?
I’m so excited! Thanks for all your work on this

I haven’t worked with version 0.1.7 in over 4 months, but IIRC…
1) Drop all tables with the prefix “bp_album_”
2) Delete the bp_album directory
3) Deactivate plugin
4) Activate plugin…and it should work

7 days to go… This is like waiting for Christmas!
@foxyly Thanks, I need it for my photography site, obviously this plugin will be a big part of it. Thanks for your hard work and prompt reply. rg
@foxly – No joy I’m afraid. I’ll just have to make do with media I suppose!!!
@foxly – Any update on a release date? I love the current BP Media plugin but I really need the additional functionality of the 0.1.9 update.
Thanks
Adam
The team working on the BP Media plugin are working their asses off and getting grey ball hairs at the same time to get 0.1.9 released. Have some patience people…
Can’t wait till its out! My whole website is pending to go live. Just waiting on this plugin! No pressure guys!

@Driftless1 @rolandogomez @markhahnel @bones7151 @thelandman @abbaskhalil
We have a new nightly build for the plugin posted on our Google Code page:

^F^
@foxly, thanks for the update, but the nightly build is not for the non-programmer types like me
and I need it for a live site that is a photography community. But I’ll wait patiently as I know you guys are working hard. Just keep us posted and if I was a programmer/coder, I’d be helping you. Thanks, rg.when, when, when

This has been the longest 10 days of my life… (well there was that one visit to the in-laws…)
I hate to be “that guy,” but I’ve looked at the tracker, the development plan, the todo list, etc. etc. etc. Great information. Super-thorough. But, it doesn’t really give me any idea when we can expect this to drop?
More than 1 month? More than 3 months? More than a year?
I won’t hold you to it if your estimate proves to be wrong – but surely we have some idea of when this might happen?
Thanks for the hard work.
The next nightly build will have front-end screens. ETA about 2 weeks. We estimate a very rough alpha in about 2 months. Beta in about 4 months. Full installer, importer, etc in 8 to 12 months.
To put the scope of BP-Media into perspective, it has more code in it than WordPress and BuddyPress combined. BP-Media has to have this level of sophistication because of the inherent complexity of handling media items.
^F^
@foxly Thanks, that helps. Just good to know when it is time to start chomping at the bit.
I don’t doubt the complexity at all. Sounds awesome. Looking forward to it.
Another year -_- at least the beta will be coming out. this gots to be a master piece when its done. 2 years is the time it takes for a game to come out. Good luck.
“We estimate a very rough alpha in about 2 months.”
You said the exact same thing a _year_ ago. The “inherent complexity of handling media items” is BS. Full open source video editors and operating systems are being finished from the ground up in the time-frame which wasn’t enough for you to produce an alpha version of a buddypress plugin. How much longer do you think you can maintain the illusion of making progress? I’m out.I’d start by having a look at our Twitter feed. We’re adding new code to BP-Media *every single day*.

adding code != progress
