FAQs: Suggestion on ”improving” answers

Since the documents here (http://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/faqs/) are getting rearranged (Cool job Mercime and Boone!), maybe some of the answers can be extended and clarified. Here is an example of one that needs clarification and an extension.

    Is BuddyPress a forum script?

BuddyPress is a social networking plugin for WordPress. It is not a forum script. A stripped-down forum is utilized in the BuddyPress Groups component. However, if you are looking for a traditional forum (setting up forum categories, forum administration, etc.), you can try Simple:Press or installing a standalone version of bbPress.

Maybe additional information is needed. For example, BP uses wp_users and not bb_users. Also, maybe a link to the development of the new bbPress plugin could be included. Finally, links to topic threads already discussing the integration of bbPress standalone (such as http://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/using-an-existing-bbpress-installation/) and SimplePress forums would be helpful.

Maybe this thread could be used to edit and write a “better” answer to the question. We could choose one FAQ – clean it up and move to the next one – thereby helping Boone and Mercime.

    Just a thought :)
