    Hi,

Currently, I am using buddypress default theme. When I minimise the screen or open the website in a larger monitor, the entire layout changes. Images and content overlap.

How can I make my website responsive to the screen. Please advise!!

Since 1.7, BP has built in theme support. Take a look at this article for more info on theme compatibility:

    http://codex.buddypress.org/theme-compatibility/

This means you can move from using bp-default to using a responsive WP theme.

Things are about to get even more awesome with BP 1.8 (soon to be released) as you’ll be able to set up an advanced template hierarchy.

    Hi Henry,

Appreciate your response. I have gone through the article you mentioned on theme compatibility and found that certain directories dont exist anymore. eg: ins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/

Could you please guide me with steps on how to make the “bp default theme” website responsive?

Trying to make BP default responsive isn’t really the best approach. As mentioned, going forward, theme compatibility will allow you to make use of a WP theme that has been specifically designed to be responsive.

@sandeepandugula BP Default theme is responsive. Of course you could tweak it further to fit your needs. Look at the responsive.css file of the BP Default theme to start off https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.7.2/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/css/responsive.css and then override or add to the styles already in that file to your own BP Default child theme stylesheet.

@mercime When I try to minimise the browser window, the layout changes in my website. When you minimise bussypress or facebook website, there is a horizontal scroll bar that comes without changing the layout. Can you pls tell me how can do the same for my website?
