I think I found a bug when using BP Group Hierarchy and bbpress forums. I created a child group 1 level down then a new forum post in the child group. When I went out to the groups forum page (which shows the list of topics), the link is broken to the post I just created. The post is still visible with all the correct details, but the link to it is incorrect. Here is an example of the broken link:

http://www.mysite.com/groups/ChildGroup/forum/topic/test-post/

This is the what the link should be:
http://www.mysite.com/groups/ParentGroup/ChildGroup/forum/topic/test-post/

How can I fix this?

I fixed it, in bp-forums-templatetags.php, edit the function bp_the_topic_permalink() as follows:

// get the slug by group id
$parentSlug = BP_Groups_Group::get_slug($bp->groups->current_group->parent_id);

if ( $forum_template->topic->object_slug )
$permalink = $bp->root_domain . ‘/’ . BP_GROUPS_SLUG . ‘/’. $parentSlug .’/’ . $forum_template->topic->object_slug . ‘/’;

…..

Nice catch!

Unfortunately, the solution you presented relies on editing a BuddyPress core file. I’ll see if I can find a way to fix the issue without resorting to that.
