Gravatar Image interference – not displaying

    Hi,

    I am busy running a BuddyPress 1.5 installation on WordPress 3.2.1. bbPress 2.0 is also installed. I am working on a local server (WAMP PHP 5.3.1, MySQL v5.1.36, Apache v2.2.11). I have a child theme of the default BuddyPress theme activated, but thus far I have made no changes to the child theme. The child theme was setup according to these instructions – http://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/

    I have noticed that with the BuddyPress mobile plugin active, the Gravatar images do not display and it displays the default icon. However, when the BP mobile plugin is not active, the Gravatar images display correctly.

    Not sure if this is a bug or related to me being on a local environment, but I thought it was worth mentioning here since my site is is pretty much a clean install of all the mentioned components.

  • I have the same set up (child theme of bp-default) also on bp1.5 and wp 3.2.1 but I am not on a local installation and have the same issue – with Buddypress mobile active the mystery man image is displayed on both my desktop and mobile themes, even though I have ‘identicon’ selected as my default avatar. It looks like avatars are not being loaded since the lazy load check box option doesn’t seem to change things. Is there a solution please @modemlooper?

    @modemlooper

    This will get fixed in next update. I’m forcing mystery man because it makes page loads faster on mobile and saves data/$$

    @modemlooper that makes sense. For now though, could it force mystery man on the mobile theme and not across the desktop theme too please?

    @modemlooper

    go into buddy press-mobile.php and remove:

    `if ( $_COOKIE != ‘normal’){
    add_filter( ‘bp_core_fetch_avatar_no_grav’, ‘__return_true’ );
    }`

    then in themes/default/functions.php add:

    `add_filter( ‘bp_core_fetch_avatar_no_grav’, ‘__return_true’ );`
