Groups pagination get slower

Hello there,

We work with buddypress for our social platform for 2 years now.
This platform was very quick until we have more than 80k groups. In fact, groups pagination seems to get slower in some cases. For example if I’m on the first groups page and I want to go to the second or the third one everything is all right. But if I want to go from the first page to the last one for example it can take more than 4 minutes …
When some filters are added, it really fast, I think this problem come from the pagination system but I don’t know how can I prevent from this.

I know the new version (1.7 released yesterday) uses the new BP_User_Query which increases member query speed. I think when BP was built originally, the focus was on getting the platform to work. It seems the dev team is now concerned with scalability going forward so hopefully we’ll start to see more speed improvements.

80,000 groups! Really? Even with improvements where they can be made I would have thought it’s always going to be somewhat slow with those sorts of numbers.

How have you got 80,000 groups, what are these groups that you have so many?
