Half and Half (normal Wp and BP)

Hi, hopefully this is the correct section.
I’m wondering if i can keep my front end of wordpress the same as usual (we have a magazine type site) and then the forum/social aspects in buddypress.
We’ve been looking at different forum software and other stuff for a while to take care of our needs, but needing separate logins is a real deterant.
