Hide user email

  • Hello.

Here is the issue im having: Users will need to share personal health info on my site. Im resigned to the fact that users will need to enter an email to register, but I want that email to remain hidden from everyone else. My whole site revolves around the idea of anonymity so that users can share personal health info and not have to worry their privacy. Any ideas how i could provide users this level of privacy with word/buddypress? Or are there any other platforms available to build a social network besides buddypress that would allow this?

    Many Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi @trialsph

Which theme are you using? It isn’t great practice to display member’s email addresses on a site by default. Perhaps you should try a different theme which doesn’t do this.

I’ve seen friends sections shows email addresses, but that may have been in a messaging plugin.
Are there any buddypress core messaging or find friend sections that bring up and search on email addresses, or are those all plugins? It sounds like where I saw it was a plugin but just making sure then.
    Thank you!
