How can I edit the html of navigation tabs?

Specifically, I need to edit the HTML output by bp_get_displayed_user_nav() so that there is an additional class in the markup.

I ended up just copying the function and renaming it and using that. but of course the code is not pasting… So i’ll just point you where I went:
