    hello … am tryin out this new theme… am sure alot of pple would be familier with it.. its buddyboss

    i need help on how to change the ‘like’ and ‘unlike’ link in the ajax.php to any string i like.. for example… changing the like to ‘Cool’ and then also change the msg beneath to ’1 person is cool with this’ and the unlike becomes ‘uncool’, … and so forth when more than one person clicks it, it becomes… ’2 people are cool with this’

    i need to know how to customize those buttons in buddyboss theme,..

    also how do i get all my content behind the login page, i dont want any comment or default page showing until users login, and when they login, i want the activity page to be the first page they see

    thanks

    This may help with changing the labels in the buttons:

    http://codex.buddypress.org/developer/customizing/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/

    This will help with hiding BP pages from visitors that are not logged in just download the zip file and install like a plugin:

    https://github.com/bphelp/private_community_for_bp

    In the private community plugin file edit the private-community-for-bp.php on line 27.
    Change this:
    `
    wp_redirect( get_option(‘siteurl’) . ‘/register’ );
    `
    To this:
    `
    wp_redirect( get_option(‘siteurl’) . ‘/wp-login.php’ );
    `

    thanks … will try out the private-community-for-bp

    as for the first one, which involves creating po and mo files, i know that process, but when i edit the buddyboss child theme en_US.po file, nothin happens.. if i edit the buddyboss en_US.po file, the change occurs… but what if thr is an update to the main buddyboss parent theme.. wont my changes revert,

    also what i would like to change which is the ‘like’ and unlike link isnt changing

    you need to create a languages directory in wp-content. It will have this structure:
    yoursite/wp-content/languages and that is where you need to place the po and mo files. Updates for the buddyboss theme should not affect this as it overides the themes languages file when in this directory structure.

    @boly well you gotta have a destination page when a user goes to your URL and a way for them to login to your site. You can change line 27 to the URL of the page you desire them to be directed to. It could be for example:
    1) wp_redirect( get_option(‘siteurl’) . ‘/register’ );
    2) wp_redirect( get_option(‘siteurl’) . ‘/wp-login.php’ );
    3) wp_redirect( get_option(‘siteurl’) . ‘/activity’ );
    4) wp_redirect( get_option(‘siteurl’) . ‘/members’ );
    I hope this helps!

    oh by the way.. i did that language directory… it works for buddypress.. but doesnt change buddyboss strings… check this out

    http://www.buddyboss.com/groups/buddyboss-theme/forum/topic/how-to-translate-buddyboss-into-another-language/

    but it doesnt explain how to apply to child theme of buddyboss..

    editting the main buddyboss theme would work… and it would change the child theme too… but if that theme is updated… wont it change my whole translation… and wont i be back to square one….. thats why i would rather edit the language directory of the child theme…

    Then add a languages folder directory appropriately to your buddyboss child theme that contains the mo/po files. Updates should not effect your child theme.

    oh well.. i tried all methods… it doesnt work… my guess is … since i didnt create the PO/MO files from the POT file directly like i did with buddypress , am guessing thats why… or may be the child theme gets all is sources from the parent theme language folder… and it really doesnt affect it… and if thr is ever updates.. i would just request for a new catalogue…

    really dont want to tamper with that parent theme

    thanks alot @bphelp

    if u find any thing … or reference to anything pls share.. would be glad to hear more

    Did you rename the pot file before you generated the mo file? You need to copy the pot file for your theme. For example the
    /wp-content/themes/languages/yourtheme.pot and rename it to yourtheme-en_US.po edit it with Poedit, save the changes which generate the mo file, then place both in wp-content/languages. If there is no languages directory in wp-content then create it. If this don’t work then I have no clue!

    i dont think my theme came with a POT file, it came with the po/mo files which when edited… works and translates what i ask it to, but when i copy this files to my child theme.. and i edit from there .. it doesnt work

    and my buddypress POT files works and edits well
