How do you call Wire in your language?

How do you guys call “wire” in your language?

I just wish Japanese are aware of this word, “wire” but it’s kinda impossible. Only the geeks would know what this word means on the Internet.

On bp, it functions like Facebook’s wall. But users can also post their own texts on the wire, too.

How do you make people around you understand what “wire” is?

Don’t feel bad. No one understands it in English either :)

I am ripping “Wire” out of mine out and changing it to “Comments” – because thats what it is.

    Otsukar Sama!

I changed Wire to Wall, see my notes at https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1877#post-9953.

I’m going to end up changing it to comments on my site, eventually, but for now I’m just letting it be wire.

I always associated wire with the telegraph. The Swedish translation has it as “kanal”, that’s channel in English. I changed it to “trÃ¥d” which translates to thread. In this context it is however closer to wire as in wireless communication which translates to “trÃ¥dlöskommunikation”. The Swedish word “vajer” simply don’t hold the communication meaning the word has in English.

For anyone interested in customizing labels and messages (like renaming “Wire”) for example, I’ve posted a full instruction set with examples to the Codex: Customizing Labels, Messages, and URLs.
