How hard would it to turn this into a video gallery?

Loving this plug-in for photos. Thank you so much! What I’m looking for now is something similar for video posts. In my user survey I found they don’t want to upload video to my site, nor do I need my disc space overloaded with happy kitten movies, but they do want a place on their Buddypress profile page where they can post a handful of their YouTube and Vimeo videos – a video gallery album that would essentially look very similar to the Buddypress Photo Album. Do you think you can make something like that happen? If so, it would rock my world and I have no doubt others would be snagging it up as well.

This is *exactly* the kind of functionality we will be adding to BP Album+ over the next few releases.

We’ve won a sponsorship from Google through their GSoC program to add this specific set of features.

Keep visiting the BP Album+ forum for the latest updates.

That is awesome! Great work you guys. I can’t wait for your future releases to get the albums for the groups!

I’ve been kind of waiting it out to see how yours and a couple other like plugins develop their video portion. I didn’t want everyone to have to re-upload their pics if we switched plugins. From what you wrote above I’m now confident you are headed in the right direction. Uploading to a third party seems like the way to go, and unlike other video hosts Google won’t be going away anytime soon.

Can’t wait for the updates. :)

The GSoC upgrades will allow both locally hosted and embedded content. It would be far easier to just have one or the other, but based on feedback from the community (what you see in these forums is only 1/10 of the interaction we handle) … is that sites need a great deal of flexibility with media hosting.

That’s awesome. And in my case at least I don’t think my users are as interested in uploading as they are having an embedded gallery, but having the option to have “hosted” videos on my buddypress site that I don’t have to use the disc space to host? Pretty golden.

@foxly I find the idea really great and I think it’s cool that you are so determined!
Which video platforms can then be integrated?

It would be fantastic if it could be easy to integrate own video hosters (smaller ones).
One of my friends have a video platform with ostube which I would like to integrate! is there a way?
    link to this side: http://myterra.tv/
link to ostube: http://www.ostube.de/ (only german, I think…)

Regards and sorry for bad english!^^

@sicksight We’re going to integrate support for the most popular video sites like YouTube, Revver, etc. We will not be adding functionality for hundreds of small sites because it would be impossible to keep all of them working.

Hmm … Thanks for the answer! Where ostube is a script and used by many sites! ;)
But I can understand it! Thumbs up! ;)

@sicksight When BP ALbum+ is completed, it will be a free, open-source osTube replacement with better features.
