How to add @ username tags in comments to notifcations

So when you are logged in to your buddypress account and leave a comment on a normal wordpress post on the main page of site.

” hey @username check out this post”

I want the username that has been tagged to get a notification of this. Is there a plugin to do this or a script to achieve this?

EDIT: Just re-read your question. You should get an email and core notification. Have you enabled ‘site-tracking’ in WP admin?

@henry thank you for your response!

what do you mean I will get an email and core notification?

also I am not sure what you mean by site tracking, do you mean adding analytics?

Site tracking – if you go to your WP admin area, look under BuddyPress where you can enable and disable components. You’ll see that you can enable site tracking. You’ll need to have this option checked to get notifications.
