How to allow group avatars, but not user avatars

I have a bit of a unique problem. I think most people here prefer to allow their users to upload avatars rather than make them use gravatar. In my setup, however, my users are all Minecraft players and I have a plugin that pulls their avatar from their skin. So, I prefer to not allow them to upload avatars. However, I’d like to allow them to upload an avatar for groups. Is there a way to do this?

    Edit the template file bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/single/profile/change-avatar.php

remove the form upload code and replace text with info that avatar is served from elsewhere

Ohhh, I see. I’m ashamed to admit this, but I guess I should learn PHP. I’m still pretty new to WordPress in general. Still, I’ll see if I can figure out. Thanks!
