How to create a group

    Could someone please help to explain how to ‘Create a Group’ in BuddyPress. I have just spent the best part of the day going over the many answers to the same same that so many people seem to have. I installed the latest version of Buddypress and the Template pack today on PageLines Pro Theme which I purchased specifically because it is ‘Buddypress’ ready. I can see a menu for ‘My Account’ and then ‘Groups’ in the drop down list. There are two options there for ‘My Groups’ and ‘Invites’ – none of these has a link to create a new group. Any help would be REALLY appreciated as I really don’t know what to do here . Thanks.

    That’s from the BP Admin Bar. To create a group, go to http://yoursite.com/groups, then click on “Create a Group” link just beside the page title – Groups Directory. Or to go straight to creating a group, just type in http://yoursite.com/groups/create

    Hi mercime – you just saved my day ! How can I thank you enough – am still trolling through countless forums looking for the elusive answer and you picked it straight away. Strange thing is I’ve been looking at a/the ‘Buddypress Manual’ at WPMU.org and it only says to click the Groups tag at the right side of the admin bar – however this link is missing for me ! Don’t really understand why there is no ‘idiots guide’ to setting these things up ………. Many thanks – I really appreciate your time and help ! Regards – Richard

    That manual is a third party resource – not an official one.

    well there is the BuddyPress for Dummies book available.

    Never read that book, but thinking something to add to BP Codex. It’s not hard to do, just have to find time to do it :-)
