How to let users submit recipes & feature on the main page

    Hi!

I just learned about Buddypress today and it sounds great! – I’d like to start a cooking based site and would be deeply grateful if anyone could please clarify two things for me

    1) Do I need to get a wordpress theme that’s made for buddypress of can I get any wordpress theme and customize it with buddypress pluging?

    2) Is there any plugin or buddypress theme, that lets users post recipes (have those recipes be associated with them) and can I have those recipes feature as posts on the front page of the site?

Thank you in advance for your help!
    Warmest Regards,
    Lakshmi

No plugins exist to do this.

As modemlooper mentioned above, there is no plugin ala BP component plugin created for recipe posting at this time. There are work-arounds if you’re up to getting your hands into some minor coding.

#1. You could use any WP theme and install BP Template Pack plugin and go through Appearance > BP Compatibility and go through the process of of adjusting HTML structure if needed.

#2. You could install http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-simple-front-end-post/ and add fields as needed then style the custom recipe post formĀ  OR create a custom post type (recipes) and create form for front end posting or just allow the members to post the usual way via wp-admin/dashboard.
