How to use BP-Album???

    @penelopeelse

    I’m in information hell now – and still can’t find how to actually use BP-Album+. I’ve installed the latest version 0.1.8.10 from this page, but it doesn’t seem to do much – certainly not the tagging which I’m specifically after.

    Where is the user manual…? Is BP-Album+ a junior version of BP-Media, or a different strand?

    (BTW, I can’t see page 2 of this forum because it just goes blank)

    Yours tiredly

    BP-Album+ is the current release version of the plugin. Its sort of like a very feature-limited version of BP-Media. BP-Media is the next version of the plugin, which we are actively building. We’re getting it finished as quickly as we can, likely another month or two.

    There is no manual for BP-Album+ because its so simple. It will create an “Album” tab on you user’s BP profiles. They can use this to upload images to their profiles. As the admin, you can set the limits for this on the admin menu, and you can visit user’s profiles and add/delete/modify images as if you were the user that owns the profile.

    Despite its simplicity, BP-Album+ is currently being used by millions of users on almost 20,000 different websites.

    For a preview of what we’re getting set to release in BP-Media (which has spectacularly good tagging features), grab yourself a copy of the latest nightly build off our downloads page:

    Thanks!

    Hi @foxly

    Ah, okay – but I would have to say this renaming is very confusing when they’re used interchangeably in your documentation without clarification (eg “BP-Media…..currently serving millions of users on 15,000 different websites” – presumably that’s actually BP-Album+). You’re probably too close to it to notice…

    I’m looking forward to the release of BP-Media! It’s very exciting. If I start offering BP-Album to my users and upgrade to BP-media when it’s ready, can I assume all the albums created previously will be properly picked up by BP-media? If so, I’ll get my users started…

    Thank you!

    Admittedly its a bit confusing right now because we’re actively transitioning between BP-Album+ and BP-Media (including the Google Code site), but the name change is important to the future success of the plugin. BP-Media *really is* installed on 15,000+ websites and *really is* serving over a million users right now.

    Yes, BP-Media will upgrade a BP-Album+ install. Heck, it can even operate in a limited-functionality mode that will preserve your old templates if necessary.

    Hi @foxly – thanks for a great plugin!

    Was wondering… how stable is Bp-Media_Nightly_Build-2011-09-07.zip? Can it be used, even though certain bugs may reduce functionality. I got a small (less than 100 members) social network, and the BP-Media features would be great. I looked at your Issues list on code.google, but can’t tell if that release has lost of “show-stoppers” (ie, bugs that hinder a users to complete critical tasks).

    Thanks!
