I just started using BP. I am able to to do everything but When I click on blogs link. I got following message.

    ………………………………………………………………

A user tried to go to http://example.com/blogs/blogs/blogs/ and received a 404 (page not found) error. It wasn’t their fault, so try fixing it.

    ………………………………………………………………

I am not able to access blog list. I am not able to understand why there is three /blogs/blogs/blogs/ while it must be two as I installed WPMU in blogs folder.. I will be thankful If anybody can help me in the same.

I think you are going to have problems running from a folder called blogs… It’s something I’ve seen before

My WPMU & BP is working fine. Even I am able to browse everything like forums, groups, activity with ease. I can create individual blogs as well & further I can post new topic. I am able to access those posts & blogs. But when I click on “Blog” icon on header I will get message like this

    “Page Not Found

The page you were looking for was not found.”

I changed nothing except in control panel for dns entry for a “/” for subdomain.

    1. Which version of WPMU are you running? WordPress MU 2.9.1.1

    3. If a directory install, is it in root or in a subdirectory? subdirectory

    4. Did you upgrade from a previous version of WPMU? If so, from which version? fresh install

    5. Was WPMU functioning properly before installing/upgrading BuddyPress? Yes, sure it was i even created a blog and was reading the posts normally.

    6. Which version of BuddyPress (BP) are you running? BP1.2.1

    7. Did you upgrad from a previous version of BP? If so, from which version? No

    8. Do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress installed and activated? no

    9. Are you using the standard BuddyPress themes or customized themes? standard

    10. Have you modified the core files in any way? no

    11. Do you have any custom functions in bp-custom.php? no

    12. If running bbPress, which version? NO

    13. Please provide a list of any errors in your server’s log files.

Please help me solve this, I have struggled a lot with it. Thank you!

Try creating a page called news and in the admin >> setting >> reading choose a static front page and the news page as a blog page. Like DJPaul said using a subfolder called blogs is a problem.

DJPaul already answered you. There is a problem installing in a subfolder called blogs.

    try changing slug

    define( ‘BP_BLOGS_SLUG’, ‘blogs’ );

    All kudos to you !

initially I tried to find our bp-custom.php file but I was not able to locate it. Then I made the desired change in wp-config.php

    Now its working fine.

Thanks a lot for all support.

bp-custom.php is just a file you create on your own. It’s not included in by default.

btw,If you are wondering, why this happened.

the problem is with bp_core_set_uri_globals function In Bp.

    See the ticket here

    http://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1726

If you install bp in a folder whose name coincides with one of the component slug, the component is not accessible until you change the component slug to be different than the folder name.
