I broke my site by disabling groups :(

    @ewebber

    I just stupidly set groups to disabled in component settings and now my install just shows a blank page on the front end or admin panel (www.fuckyeahhackney.com/beta). Can anyone help me! I have the latest versions on BP and WP on a linux box.

    Deactivate BuddyPress and BP Plugins, set Appearance to a regular WP theme.
    Then go back and activate BuddyPress only, set Appearance to BP-compatible theme and go to frontend.

    It ought to not break. Are you running a custom theme, widget or plugin that might rely on the groups component being active?

    @mercime I can’t get into the admin to deativate it! I’ll try to buddypress from the plugins folder, I have just reset everything up and imported my tables to a new instance, so I’m probably ok if it completely breaks

    @Paul_Gibbs I’m using bpcolumns and I have plugins that probably need groups, so I’ll have a think and go through removing and testing

    Thanks for the help

    This same thing is happening to me – I installed buddypress and the front & back end of my site went completely blank. I chose to enable very few options like groups, etc. Now I’ve tried deleting the plugin from my cpanel & then reinstalling, but once I reinstall, my site goes breaks again and I can’t see any content on the front or back end. Any idea how to correct this?
