    Hello all:

I am new to buddy press, word press, etc and I am not a programmer so be gentle and very detailed if you would, please.

I have a membership site powered by s2memberPro, wordpress 3.8 and Whatever the latest Buddy Press is and the template is Parabola (latest version as well)

    http://www.leathertowne.com

The buddy press area is locked down via S2memberpro. So if you would like access to the buddy press please let me know and I’ll set you up as a temporary “paying member”

Ok, here’s the problem: I assume that buddy press is supposed to show a listing of all members, active or online members, or at least a way to browse members and add them as friends.

    1. No list of members except those who are currently online.
    2. No way to browse members
    3. No ADD FRIEND button.

I know that the “add friend button” is available because I found it once but have since changed to parabola theme and now it is missing.

I would very much appreciate any help or suggestions you can provide.

Have you followed any basic troubleshooting? how do things look if you switch to a known good theme e.g any of the WP twenty…. series do you still have no friend button? have you plugin conflicts? disable all plugins to test.

It’s important to run through these basic troubleshooting steps.

BP shows a listing of all members that have actively logged into their account, this is the directory members listing and requires a blank but named page as the other main directories do. If you have members that have joined but not logged in BP will not include them in the listings.

thanks for replying Hugo: I’ve tried a lot of things including basic trouble shooting steps.

I think part of my problem is the “members” directory buddy press uses. I originally had/have a subdomain “members” with a wordpress on it. I have since manually removed the word press… but the members page remains blank…. SO….

I got tired of going blind and made a subdomain named Demo: loaded a new instance of WP and a new instance of BP. Now the members page shows all members button and a search all members. So I’m about to strip the entire thing and start from scratch… my members might be a bit freaked but oh well.

Ok. So I took it all down, stripped the site naked, including dumping the database. Started fresh with new WP, BP and s2memberpro in that order and now it works fine.

Thanks for the moral support Hugo.

Sounds as though having another item labelled ‘members’ caused BP some issues, but hard to say for sure without lokking deeper into the code and testing things.

Oh I’m sure it did cause problems. Even though I cleared WP from “members” it still would work. I’m happier now :D
