is anyone taking this plugin over?
2 questions for anyone …..but mainly @nuprn1 the amazing features you nailed with your plugins is unreal….. is buddypress going to have “bump to top” built into the next release? what i’m wondering is if i get this working using that patch to fix the duplicate email notifications ….. will it not work with later versions of buddypress? meaning i go and upgrade buddypress and then this plugin will stop working? thanks so much
This is working perfectly fine for me with 3.04 and BuddyPress 1.2.7 maybe you have a plugin or theme conflict…
It’s not been discussed for 1.3 (or 1.4), so not likely to make core.
hmmm thanks @djpaul @pisanojm … its working fine for me i love it so wasn’t posting about an issue now i’m thinking down the road is it all the sudden going to stop working … i can cross that bridge when it comes but just wondering if you guys put this kind of plugin in your production sites …. i imagine if it stops working someone will come up with a fix as i imagine enough people use this plugin ….. makes total sense to me to have this in the core yes? @apeatling
the plugins @nuprn1 comes up with are really key ones maybe he could be convinced to work with buddypress team
Possible it would stop working – as I won’t be updating them right now for 1.2.8/3.1
i just chimed in with a statement here:
@nuprn1 no way you upgraded bump to top to work with buddypress 1.5 thank you!!! this was the one reason i have not upgraded our site to 1.5 buddypress yet
no way? – I was able to block out a lot of time this week to sift over my plugins and update them. Hopefully it works
(yes, posting on a new account – as my username / displayname was a bit confusing more atme mentions)
Hello @etivite unfortunately Bump appears broken on 1.6.1. I tried removing all extensions except Bump and it doesn’t work. Here’s to hoping your baby sleeps a lot and leaves you time one evening to fix it
Gosh I’d really like to see this updated for Buddypress. One of the reasons why using updates in Facebook group “discussions” is user friendly is that comments bump the update up.
This plugin worked for me. What problems are you having?
When making a reply to a comment on a member page it bumps the thread to the top, but it shows the original comment was written by the latest commentor instead of the OP – this only happens when a comment is replied on a member page, not the main activity page.
I deactivated the plugin and it doesn’t happen when deactivated so I know it is a bug with the plugin. See link of photo so you can see what I mean…
There is also an error message on the admin plugin page that says this…
Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare(), called in /buddypress-activity-stream-bump-to-top/admin/bp-activity-bump-admin.php on line 64 and defined in /home/hsbn/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 992
Not sure if that is related, or if it matters at all, but the bug above is very important, it makes the plugin unusable for my site…
You can’t post on someones profile. Looks like you are using the wall plugin?
I am using BuddyBoss theme, which comes with the Wall feature.
I meant the bug only happens when you reply to a comment on a member’s Wall with the activity-bump plugin activated, but it doesn’t happen when not activated and it doesn’t happen when you reply to a comment on a group wall or the main activity wall.
test plugin on another theme. I think wall feature is messing it up.
I’m also using Buddyboss. OK @modemlooper I have installed it and for comments made on the main Activity timeline it seems to work.
I do wish there were an auto-refresh for the Activity timeline
On my local install this plugin DOES BUMP comments made in Activity.
Does not appear to bump new comments made in posts on the blog nor comments made in posts on another blog in a multi-site set-up.
Now those comments DO COME IN to the activity stream but are placed with the Post wherever it came in.
wp 3.9 rc1 bp 2.0 beta2
i have site tracking checked.
but currently i have an awful lot of plugins on this install – so the problem probably lies there.
BTW the theme i am experimenting with is https://github.com/modemlooper/Buddy-Default/archive/master.zip which is the bp default theme optimised for theme compatibility by @modemlooper a moderator on this forum – see comment above on this thread.
i think its excellent.
Seems like a broken comment to activity sync. Comments on the activity item post to the blog post but not the other way around.
Back to my issue – btw, thanks @modemlooper for taking the time to look this over…
The issue with BuddyBoss theme seems to be with @mentions – the plugin ‘bumps’ replies to those comments but it doesn’t append the original start date and time_since like it does with regular comments, instead it kind of takes over the activity-header div. It only changes the username of the original poster when replying from a personal wall, but even when replying on the main site wall it happens as I stated.
Not sure you can help, but at least I am narrowing down the problem, I guess.
Yes – it (bumping) appears to be partially broken.
The sync for a comment on a blog post to the activity stream actually happens but the activity entry itself does not get bumped – it stays where it is – could be way down the page.
and also have
Repaired user “last activity” data
Activity auto-refresh – checked
Apologies for any cross-over as this is not quite the same problem as the one mentioned by @farco
Ok – I was wrong – it is not happening on @mentions – well it is – but it is happening on any post that originated from a personal wall. Sorry, but this bug has consumed me all day and has now driven me crazy, sorry to drive you all crazy too!
I think @marcusyong is describing what is happening in my case in his first post on this topic http://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-2-0-beta-2/
The topic ‘is anyone taking this plugin over?’ is closed to new replies.
