Is BuddyPress compatible with custom mailing platforms?

I’m looking in to creating custom e-mail notifications for my BuddyPress site. I’d like to improve on the basic Times New Roman text that currently arrives, and possibly apply a template with the site logo. Does anyone know of a BuddyPress-compatible plugin that would make this possible? I would like it for New Account, New Blog, Mentions, all of the standard BP notifications, etc.

I tried MailPress, which is very complex and thorough, but I couldn’t easily and readily identify which options would associate with BP. If you don’t activate a particular association, I think, you basically kill that particular e-mail notification and it never happens.
