Is there a way to have multiple sites with one log-in?

  • Hello Buddypress Community,

I have an idea, and would love to use BuddyPress for it, but I’m unsure if this will work for my needs. Here’s my situation:

I have a site. I want to have different catagories for the site that have their own unique pages that can only be seen on that portal of the site, which would be in a subdomain. But I want it so that no matter which category of the site that you’re on, you’re still logged in under the log-in that you registered with. So basically, a site with a single log-in for each section of it.

Is this possible with BuddyPress? I have had a hard time figuring out if it is or not. BuddyPress is perfect for my needs, but, this is the main issue that needs clearing.

    Thanks,
    Weasel

  • 1.5 month bump,

To clarify, I want to have multiple instances of BuddyPress, i.e. http://pirate.buddypress.org/ and http://ninja.buddypress.org/, each their own site, however both with the same login and profile screens, if possible.

Is this possible? Thanks community. (:

    Hi there
Sorry we missed your original post. As much as I understand your question, the answer’s yes. Activate multisite on WordPress and away you go!

    Paul,

Oh! Much of that looks like features that are currently now built in to WordPress MU. To be honest, I just realized today that I never updated my BuddyPress blog to the newest version. I checked out some of the new features, and it looks like many of them work exactly like Multisite does. So I guess there is a way… just 1.5 months ago, there wasn’t exactly as simple of a way as there is now.

My apologies for bothering you with this newbie nonsense! But thank you very much for your response. (:

    Regards,
    Weasel
