Is it possible to modify the code so that only 3 posts are shown per user in the sitewide posts widget? I want to avoid situations where some bloggers who post regularly end up dominating the homepage feed.

    Thanks.

I’m not sure I’ve been totally clear. Basically, say the 10 most recent posts are all from the same blogger, I’d only like the three most recent of these to show on the recent sitewide posts widget. This is to stop one blogger “hogging” the homepage feed.

    Is this possible?

On the one hand… manipulating the feed seems wrong. It’s contrary to the very idea of a feed. On the other hand… ever since Facebook changed their default feed from a broad algorithm-based overview of everything to a live feed of status updates only (and EVERY single status update)… I’ve been annoyed to no end by friends who post inane status updates 20 times a day. So I feel your pain. It would be a nice option. I’m afraid I don’t have an answer though. It doesn’t sounds too complicated to code… but I don’t know. Ideally… you would give the individual user the control over what they see in the feed (i.e. hide updates from jimmy… show more like this… show less like this… etc.)… but that would be a lot more complex of course.

Yes – ideally users would be able to customize exactly what they see on the site, but I have neither the sheer volume of users, nor the technical prowess for that!

Does anyone have any idea how I could modify the sitewide posts code to allow a maximum of three posts per user?
