Limiting Abuse

    Just wanted to start a discussion about limiting abuse. I think we all know it when we see it, but creating rules can be a little tricky.

    Any thoughts?

    The biggest challenge for my site is the smiley only posts/comments/replies.

    I would like to see a good “Points Term of Service” write up. I’ve thought about making one. If any of you do create one, let’s see.

    My initial thought.

    If you are caught abusing the points system on this site. You will get “so many points” removed. If you are caught a second time, all your points will be drained.

    To harsh? lol

    The punishment is the easy part. Determining what constitutes spam is the hard part.

    I hate TOS “agreements.”

    Our published TOS is:

    You:
    Don’t be a asshole.

    Us:
    We won’t violate your trust.

    I never put much stock in TOS agreements, maybe that’s because we don’t have billion dollar venture capital firm….. yet. :)

    What about putting limits on certain things. Like a daily limit on comments or a monthly limit on forming groups. Should we be giving points to someone that creates more than one group?
