BuddyPress.org

Hi i am trying to integrate a login slider i made with BuddyPress but i am having issues trying to check if the private messaging system is active as i am calling bp_has_message_threads() and if it is not active it errors.

Also how can i perform a check to see if BuddyPress is installed and activated.
