    @buddyboss

    I sell one of the most popular BuddyPress themes (BuddyBoss) and I am looking for a fantastic BuddyPress developer for consistent contract work.

    You will spend some time working on updates to the BuddyBoss theme. We get TONS of leads for custom development, usually from customers who have purchased the BuddyBoss theme and need custom functionality added – theme changes, plugins, custom BuddyPress setups. I am looking for someone to work on some of the leads I take on, and also to refer my many extra leads to.

    For lead referrals, I will take a referral fee – and I will help make the sale and collect payments from the client. You could theoretically have full-time work from this if you want it. BuddyBoss ranks #1 on Google for “buddypress developer” and “buddypress developers”. Lots o’ leads.

    Please apply here: http://www.buddyboss.com/buddypress-developer-job/

    You omit to mention here that you are only entertaining applications from people living in the USA – for some odd reason! You ought to mention it really although in this industry why you make that stipulation I’m not sure considering many of us work internationally.

    You’re correct. I forgot to mention that the developer needs to be in the USA – I should have included that detail.

    The reason I make that stipulation is because I need to be able to talk on the phone regularly with my developers. I can’t do that with international developers. Also clients sometimes need to speak with a developer on the phone, and my clients are almost entirely in the USA. Skype calls in the evening won’t cut it.

    I have nothing against international developers. I’ve worked with many from Romania and the Philippines and they have been just as talented as American developers. It just doesn’t work for my particular business model.

    @buddyboss I think if your an entrepreneur you should learn to expand. I am from U.S.A but to me running a business with just net profit from within the U.S.A is costing you potential profits. I have done some work with folks outside the box and I think it would help your endeavors. It doesn’t take a genius for a developer to use Google translate and if you had potential business from outside the U.S.A then direct that potential company customer service to a chat room where it would be appropriately translated using a tool like Google translate. They would be more likely to understand the translation from Google than the dialect of people from different countries. Companies such as DELL representatives speaking over the phone is awful. No offense to DELL but its true! So maybe you should reconsider your options.

    I noticed this on your bonus skills:
    proficient with BuddyPress (I am willing to train if necessary)
    understand CSS and design
    good with javascript / jQuery

    Since this idea deals with buddypress shouldn’t knowledge of buddypress be a prerequisite of any skills? Seems to me it should. Reason being a function is a function which can be executed whenever. If you need it within a specific time within buddypress then you will execute that function within a wordpress hook or simply by executing it by calling that function within a template. If I am off then tell me? I wouldn’t mind the money for helping.

    Thanks for the advice – appreciated. But I know what I am looking for. I’ve done this for many years and I just need to add another developer to my staff. I need an American who I can call a few times a week to discuss the projects (live) and who can call my clients on the phone as well. I have many established clients in the USA and most leads are also from the USA.

    BuddyPress experience is ideal for sure, but I recognize the fact that there are just not that many developers who have worked extensively with BuddyPress. If I can find someone who is extremely reliable, easy to work with (for me and clients), and fantastic with PHP and WordPress – I can teach that person BuddyPress. I have plenty of WordPress projects they could start on while they learn BuddyPress. I am looking for a long term contractor here – not a one off project. But yes, a candidate with BuddyPress experience will be highly prioritized.

    I kinda already said I would work for you. I am located in East Coast U.S.A. Maybe or maybe not I will fill your requirement but I wouldn’t mind a chance! The thing about phone calls for support, do you supply the phone or reimburse for a bill because if its a business expense its tax deductible to you anyway so I would prefer you supply the phone that we would talk to each other as well as the clients. I do not mind signing confidentiality contracts to make it valid. Anyway let me know and maybe we can talk.

    I appreciate your offer. Unfortunately I have already filtered down my list to the candidates that fit exactly what I am looking for and I am considering other people at this point. Best of luck with your job search.
