Yeah, I’m having this problem too & it’s causing a bit of chaos with the “less-tech-savy” users who cannot copy & paste (even though instructions are provided) and get frustrated…eg my dad!
Some email clients convert to links, some do not..hotmail/live seem to be one of the ones that don’t!
Any solution greatly appreciated. I have tried this without luck;

oops – that forgot to use the backticks for the hyperlink code!

Any progress on this. I have the same issue and agree that less savy users are being lost
It’s not going to be addressed for some time. It will require a lot of effort to re-work this particular issue.
Aw, that’s a shame
Perhaps if it is a time/cost issue a number of members could chip in to cover the dev?
So if the point of the plugin is to allow us to change the emails that are sent out to users, and the first and most important email doesn’t work correctly because the links aren’t live, then any other emails (all of my emails contain links) that contain links won’t work. This seems like a major issue unless you are content with simple text emails. I am ready to donate to help fix this issue, otherwise, I will look for another solution to sending emails with live links.
Regrettably, I don’t have enough time right now. Simple as that. If any experienced developers want to work with me on Welcome Pack, that would be good.
Why even bother to create an email template system that doesn’t incorporate hyperlinks?
It does. You can add links and they work. You are talking about changing the way BuddyPress handles emails, which is slightly different.
