Can’t figure out what’s going on. I’m using 1.0.6…

A user creates a member group successfully, but can’t access it (if forwards to the parent group) and when it’s displayed in the groups list it has no name.

This test user is trying to create a member group call TEST in a group called ALTERNATIVE, which is a sub-group of GENRES. Everything goes according to plan and the wizard doesn’t display any errors, but at the end, he is directed to the ALTERNATIVE group. When reviewing the link to the new member group, it is displayed as follows: ../genres/alternative//

I disabled the plugin do see everything in the flat list and it’s the same. Because I can’t access it, I can’t even delete the test member group.
I’m clueless on this one. Any assistance you can provide is much appreciated.

Can you post a copy of the ID, parent_id, and slug for the affected groups?

Well the Alternative group ID is 60, it’s slug is alternative, and it’s parent ID is 59 (Genres)
The TEST group IS is 84, it’s slug is (blank) as is it’s name. Also noticed that it’s hidden (although it was get-up for public), and it’s parent ID is 60. It’s creation date is also all zeros…

Weird, ay?

Very weird. Do you know if the test user created the TEST group from the main Groups page, or from the Member Groups tab in ALTERNATIVE?

Just to be clear, it seems that everything is okay in the DB, less the fact that the member groups have no name or slug. Can’t think of a reason that would be happening.

Just more clarification… I’ve updated to the new version, but this didn’t fix anything…

As for group creation. When I create a group by clicking on groups in the site’s main navigation and create the group, it is created successfully. Then I use the member groups option from within a group to create a member group, it consistently creates these faulty groups.

I setup a new install of WP 3.0.5 and BP 1.2.7 for the test and there are no other plugins running. It’s all completely clean. If this isn’t an “easy” fix, would it be possible for you to provide a temporary code snippet that would allow for the removal of the “member groups” option?

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with it. I haven’t been able to reproduce the problem by following the steps you listed (even calling the groups “GENRES,” “ALTERNATIVE,” and “TEST” in case the names were significant). The “TEST” group is

You can disable the “Create a Member Group” option by commenting out lines 281 – 284 in extension.php

And if you come up with any more info on the problem, I’d be happy to look into it with you.

Thanx for that, and sorry you can’t recreate the problem.I’ll keep digging around to see what I can figure out. In the meantime, I’ll remark out lines 281-284.

I popped open extension.php and 281-284 don’t seem to be right. I looked above and below, but don’t want to break anything. Can you tell me what I’m remarking out just to be sure?

I have this aspect of the above problem regardless of theme used: Once this plugin is activated all group links are redirected to the home page.
