Member page as a gallery???

Hey there people
Was wondering how would it be possible to convert my directory page, with all my member listing with avatars and some basic info (like name of course and a little bio for instance?), into a gallery like explained in this tutorial but unfortunately it doesn’t work no more in the latest version?http://wpmu.org/how-to-create-a-gallery-of-members-avatars-in-buddypress/
