Migrating buddypress – groups are broken

I’m migrating a BP install within the same hosting account, so the domain is the different but the mysql is the same. I did a new install just copied over the wp-content folder. BuddyPress Default 1.2.9. Everything seems to work except the groups and profiles are broken – they just give 404s. What am I missing?

I do see this http://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/install-buddypress-on-a-secondary-blog/ and I guess I will have a shot at it later. If I don’t have bp-config.php I just create it inthe buddypress plugin directory, right?

The internal Forum installation process will automatically generate the “bb-config.php” at root of your install when you go through the process.

Yes, I think you are missing the point. I’ve sucessfully moved wordpress. It’s buddy press that is giving the problem. It’s not wp-config.php but bp-config.php that I don;t appear to have.

Oh Isee, reading the instructions again. It is wp-config .php that I have to edit. Sorry, long night. I’ll try that.

Ah, but section 3 does talk about bp-custom.php – I don’t have that. it seems those instructions are for WPMU anyway.

You can create a file, bp-custom.php, post in necessary code and upload to your wp-content/plugins directory

Hmm, still struggling. I tried a global find and replace of the old url with the new one in the mysql – didn’t help. I’ve written to boone asking for help :0

Ah, got it sported. it was just the permalinks needed setting to ‘/%post_id%/%postname%’

Thanks to Steve bruner for help!
