Multiple buddypress installation each on a separate sub-domain

    Hi,

    I have a question on installing multiple buddpress on a single site under sub-domains.

    Lets say I have a domain http://www.abc.com

    I have subdomains say http://www.us.abc.com, http://www.uk.abc.com, and so on.

    I re direct the users to a sub-domain based on their country.

    I need to keep everything separate for each sub domain.. so i install wordpress+buddypress separately on each sub-domain.

    Q1 – is it possible to have such an installation

    Q2 – how well would this installation scale ? How many such sub-domains can i have?

    Q3 – How will the blogs work if i select “sub-domain” option during installation. Will a user have a blog url as http://www.myblog.us.abc.com ???

  • BuddyPress works like a central community, so it’s either you have one BuddyPress website or not.

    What you can do is to install it on a single subdomain.

    like community.abc.com

    then you would have to edit your wp-config.php file, add the following line

    define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 3 );

    the number 3 is your blog id.

    I’ve found the solution from

    Thanks to Sabuntu!

    I’m requesting the subdomain installation as a feature though.
